Five Star Electric was awarded Phase 1 of the electrical
installation work for the new New York Mets Ballpark, known as Citi
Field. The new stadium will combine state-of-the-art technology with the
traditional appearance of a classic national league ball park. It is being
built on approximately 550,000 s. f. of space on what is presently the
Shea Stadium parking lot. The stadium will contain nine levels of seating,
concessions, bars, restaurants, and luxury boxes. Five Star will be installing
27KV electrical service, four unit substations, electric closets on every
level and the underground duct banks for high and medium voltage feeder
cables. The ball park was opening in March 2009. The construction
manager is Hunt/Bovis Lend Lease Joint Venture. HOK Sports Facilities
Architects, P.C. serves as the project architect and M/E Engineers is
the consulting engineer. The owner is the New York Mets Organization.
