Jamaica Bay Water Pollution
Control Plant

Five Star Electric is working on a comprehensive rehabilitation of the electrical system for the existing Jamaica Bay Water Pollution Control Plant that spans over 31 acres. As the electrical prime contractor for the project, the five-year project will include upgrading the electrical services and low voltage systems into four new buildings within existing plant facilities. The project includes almost every aspect of electrical installation including medium and low voltage power, site lighting, telecommunications, data, public address systems as well as a new plant-wide fire alarm system and CCTV security system enhancement. The project is currently on schedule for 2010 completion. The owner is the New York City Department of Environmental Protection with the architect/engineer Metcalf & Eddy of New York. The construction manager is Hazen & Sawyer.
