Hunts Point Water Pollution
Control Plant

Five Star Electric is the prime electrical contractor on the Phase II upgrade of the Hunts Point Water Pollution Control Plant project which serves the entire Bronx county. This project will serve to reduce biological nitrogen from being expelled into the waterway . It will take three-and-a-half years to complete and spans a 62-acre area. Five Star installed new 13.8 and 5KV substations, 480V distribution boards and panels, emergency generators, transfer switches, 500,000 feet of conduit and two-and-a-half million feet of wire. URS Corporation is the construction manager and architect, and Chu & Gassman provided the engineering services. The owner is the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.
